I have been searching for ways on verifying my paypal account since its my main channel of payment for my online jobs . Its been really a problem since I don’t (and not planning to) have a credit card. Thanks to this blog post and as well as the Gem’s Blog , I was able to successfully verify my BDO ATM Debit Card with Paypal. So for those who would like to verify their paypal using BDO’s ATM Debit Card, just do these steps:
- Before anything else I suggest you enroll in BDO’s Retail Internet Banking before attempting to link your BDO ATM Debit Card. The reason for this will become obvious in the following steps. Enrolling in BDO’s Internet Banking also has its advantages but lets reserve that in another post. Usually it takes 7 days to get approved after you submitted your enrollment form at the nearest BDO Branch.
- Login to your paypal account and click on the link your credit/debit card. You will be asked to input your card details. Once that’s done, paypal will require a 4-digit pin code which is reflected on your transaction details. This is the reason why it is very important that you enroll in the internet banking.
- Login to your Internet banking account and click on my Portfolio then my Transactions and set the preset date to “Last 7 Days”. Look for the transaction that has these characters: POS W/D SV PP (1234 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). This is the transaction code made by paypal. The 4-digit pin code is the first four numbers after “PP” which is 1234 in our example.
- Enter the 4 digit pin code and voila! , you’re now verified and the $1.95 that was taken from your debit card will now be refunded.
Getting verified is a must if you are using your paypal for online transactions, your withdrawal and sending limits will be lifted once you have verified your account. This means that you can withdraw or send cash without any monthly limit. For the next installment, I’ll be posting about my paypal withdrawal story.
If you have no paypal account yet, I suggest you signup for paypal.

hello there, I wonder if a teenager, 17, like me can have a debit card?
glenn´s last blog ..Majayjay Church
Yes Glenn, You can! Just Open an ATM Savings Account in your nearest BDO. The ATM they issue will be an ATM Debit Card. You need at least 2 Valid IDs, a 1×1 pic and then an initial deposit of Php2000.
Good post I will try that idea. I have to verify my other account on paypal since paypal allowed two different accounts. My first account has already been verified using EON card issued by Union Bank. And the other one is not yet verified. Thanks for the post I will try that. More power to you boss.

@dante
Same to you bro. Please let me know when you have successfully verified your account.
Based on my collective research on the Internet about withdrawing from paypal to BDO, BDO charges 200php per transaction.
I would like to inquire if BDO included a 200php fee when you used your BDO ATM Debit Card to verify your account?
Is there a deduction of $1.95 + 200php to your BDO Account or just $1.95? In addition, after PayPal withdrew $1.95 from your BDO Account for verifying your account, PayPal will return the $1.95 to your BDO Account. I would like to know if BDO will charge you again with an additional 200php when PayPal returned the $1.95 amount?
I am estimating the total amount that I would spend to link my PayPal account to my BDO savings account. In the end, did you spend a total of $1.95 + 200php – $1.95 + 200php = 400php or $1.95 – $1.95 = 0 in verifying your BDO Account?
Nope.. the $1.95 was refunded via paypal account and not via BDO.
I’m sorry but I’m still confused. The information on the “Link and confirm your debit or credit card” page states the following:
“When you click Save and Continue, your debit or credit card will be charged $1.95 USD. We will refund this amount to your PayPal account after your card has been confirmed.”
It is clear to me now that after PayPal withdrew $1.95 from my BDO account, that amount will be found in my PayPal account afterwards.
From my understanding of the statement, PayPal will deduct $1.95 in my BDO account. Will BDO charge me 200php when PayPal withdrew that $1.95?
In addition, PayPal asks for my first name to place it in linking my BDO ATM Debit Card. But my card is the generic one (my name is not printed in the card). Will I have a problem with that?
I’m sorry for asking too much. Thanks a lot!
I was successful in verifying my PayPal account using my BDO ATM Debit Card by following gunbladespecialist’s advice. I just entered my first name (my card is the generic one without my name in it), card type, 16-digit card number, card expiry date and 3-digit secret code. I didn’t manage to create my BDO Electronic Banking account before I did this. What I did is that after giving my BDO ATM Debit Card information to PayPal, I went to BDO (the branch where I opened my account) the next morning and asked for the “bank statement” and paid 10php for the page that contains the 4-digit code that PayPal needs to verify my PayPal account. After that I opened my BDO Electronic Banking (So that next time I will be able to view my BDO savings account via internet without going to the bank anymore).
PayPal withdrew $1.95 in my BDO ATM Debit Card and BDO charged $1 for that transaction. Afterwards, PayPal finally verified my PayPal account and refunded the $1.95 to my PayPal account.
After having my PayPal account verified, I linked my BDO Savings Account in my PayPal account. (I didn’t included my Middle Initial even though my BDO Savings Account has my Middle Name in it. I’ve read in some forums that this is the correct procedure to avoid the “incorrect account information” stuff that would cost you 250php)
Now, I’m on my way to send my money (in USD) to my BDO Savings Account. I’ll post in here what happens next
to send money to paypal, these accounts cannot be used,
To that purpose, I use http://www.money2paypal.in to send money to paypal in india
Hi Emman, I’m glad that my little tutorial was of help. PLease feel free to post you experience regarding Paypal and BDO to help others. Good luck on your transaction.
Hi Gautham,
Yes, this procedure is only available to the Philippines since BDO is a Philippine Bank. Thanks for sharing that link..:)
Last 2008 I think I was December I tried to link my BDO debit card to paypal but it was unsuccessful attempt. I tried also to go to nearest BDO office just to ask How can I link my Debit card in paypal but even the customer service doesn’t give me a concrete procedure/answer to my query. So to make the story short I open an account In Union bank and I apply for “eon” card (Union bank debit card) now I am a verify paypal user, but since I came a cross in this article, I will try to link my BDO debit card and I will post here if the procedure posted here will work for me.
Thank for posting this helpful tip.
I also got my Paypal verified through BDO Visa ATM Card. And it’s very easy.
Nice post.

Kuya… Need ko po ng help…
Di ko po maaccess you link na binigay nyo sa “BDO’s Retail Internet Banking” I have BDO Debit Card Visa.. Pero nung tri-nay kong maglink sa paypal ung card ko, sabi nila “This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. ”
I really need money… Kaya I’m desperate to ask for your help..
Help me kuya… T_T
Thanks po….
To Jeric:
You need to have at least 200 to link your card.
@Jeric & Daniel: I’m just curious. Are there BDO Visa Debit Cards? Or did they mean BDO Master Card Debit Cards? I’m just confused. Maybe I’ve never seen one.
Additional Information: It would help if you would subscribe your BDO Savings Account (With ATM) for Internet Banking because you will find there the 4 digit PayPal code that PayPal will send you for verification purposes as what the admin have said. But in my case, BDO verified my application after 2 1/2 weeks(with follow-ups). Good thing I went to my BDO branch on the following day of my card-to-paypal-linking and asked for my “Statement of Account” which will cost you 10Php per page. Anyway you’ll be needing only one page (the page containing the date where you linked your BDO Debit Card to your PayPal account). Afterwards, log-on to your PayPal account and then key-in the 4 digit PayPal code from the Statement of Account that you have claimed in your BDO branch. Then afterwards, you’re PayPal account is finally verified.
After doing so, you may send your money to your BDO Savings Account (not to your BDO Debit Card) for the fees are different and it’s much cheaper when you send the money to your Passbook. Just keep in mind when filling up the information on your PayPal for your bank account, there is no need to PLACE YOUR MIDDLE INITIAL. JUST USE YOUR ACCOUNT NAME EXCLUDING YOUR MIDDLE INITIAL. It is just what I did and I received my money without problems.
Hope this helps and more power to this website!

Im not quite sure about BDO power teens but maybe as long as the card you have is a debit card, it ok with paypal
Hi… i just want to know how long the approval for BDO internet banking is? and once i get that approved, if i would verify my PayPal account using my debit card, will it be successful? As of the moment, i do not have internet banking just yet but i did print out the enrollment form and submitted it to BDO this afternoon. They told me i should wait 3 banking days to have it approved. My problem is having my BDO Debit Card (MasterCard) verified in my PayPal account so I can withdraw my money.
hi, i just wanna ask, how much is bdo visa card?
Hi Everyone, I am on the same boat like the others do with regards to their PayPal Accounts link to BDO ATM Debit Cards.
I fully understand the instructions now that you have shared on this issue. Now let share my own experience/problem on this issue…
I already have a PayPal Account and successfully linked up my BDO ATM Bak Account with my PayPal account. But PayPal has no notification or instruction that I need to go to BDO to get the 4-digit verification code. I only got email from PayPal that my Bank Account has been successfully linked up.
My question now is, if I go to BDO to get my Bank Statement with the 4-digit code, how will I key in it to my PayPal Account? What to click there to enter the said code?
I will appreciate it if there is anyone who could help me sort this out. Thanks.
@ Ces
It would be better for you to enroll at BDO’s Retail Internet Banking so that you will be able to access paypal’s 4-digit code yourself.
@gunbladespecialist
Thanks for your advise. I already did and I need to wait for 7 days.
My problem now is this…I have been studying how PayPal works. Inside the “View Limit” there is the instruction there that says: “link and confirm your credit card.”
Why “credit card”? I don’t have a Credit card but a Debit Card.
When I clicked on the link, I have there this:
-First Name
-last Name
-Card Type
-Card Number
-Expiry date
-Security Code
**On “Security Code” – is this where I should put the 4-digit code from PayPal? because when I clicked on “What’s This?” what it shows me to put in is the 3-digit code at the back of my ATM Debit Card.
Thanks so much if you could shed light on this again.
@ces
what type of debit card do you have? and how much is the initial deposit?? im planning on opening an account but i dont know what type of account to open… thanks..
@ Posh, since I have been getting this headache with Bnaco de oro vis a vis Paypal, I would suggest you to open EON card at Union Bank instead of getting ATM Debit card at Banco De Oro.
All you need to open up is 2 valid IDs and 350 pesos for your annual membership. If you intend to link up that account to PayPal, put in around 800 pesos to make sure that there is enough amount for PayPal to get the 1.95$ as verification fee if you link up your bank account.
Click on this link for more details on how you go through it:
http://www.theladyprogrammer.com/how-to-get-you-own-unionbank-eon-card/
@ Posh ang Debit card na sinasabi ay yun na mismong ATM Card na ginagamit natin na mag-withdraw ng pera sa ATM machine instead of pipila ka pa sa loob ng bangko using a passbook. ATM Card/ATM Debit Card is the same – ito ung ini-issue sayo kung mag open ka ng “ATM Account” instead of opening a passbook account.
But then again, it seems like linking up BDO account to paypal is kinda complicated, I have been reading a lot of posts too saying the same problem. So I would suggest you just open an EON Card sa Union Bank and just follow the instructions on the link that I have provided above.
@ces
So if you want to use a card for paying in whatever establishments, apply for a CREDIT Card not ATM Debit Card.
Ang EON Card is for remittance purposes na ilink-up mo sa paypal if yong pera from abroad na ipapadala sa yo is ipapadala muna to your paypal account.
You can apply for a credit card sa kung saang bank ka nagbabangko. But getting a credit card is even more tedious than getting a Debit card kc madaming requirements. You need to prove na kaya mo mabayaran ang whatever amount na kukunin mo from your credit card.
ah ganoon ba yun? seems mali ung info na nakuha ko… ang sabi kc sakin same din sya ng credit card but ang debit card instead of using credit dun mismo sa account mo mababawas,.. ang pinagtataka ko lang sa bdo bat pa nila pinangalanang ATM debit Card ung card nila if it will only serve as a ATM… pero i saw my friend with an ATM debit card also from BDO using it to pay sa ibang establishments.. and she also told me na pede daw un ipambayad basta tumatangap ng credit card ung establishment… pero ndi ko pa sya natry,. kaya din gusto ko magopen ng ganitong account kc bukod sa mas madali sya ma-acquire kesa sa credit card, pede din syang ilink sa paypal account… anyway thanks ces for the enlightenment
@Posh, I did some research, here’s what I found out. maybe you can try with some anticipation that it may or may not work out:
The main difference is the way the card works and where the money comes from. Debit cards can be used as either a debit card or credit card. Credit cards can only be used as a credit card. Debit cards do not carry a line of credit. The purchases made with a debit card can not exceed the amount of money a person has in their bank account. This is the main difference between a credit and debit card.
Another major difference between credit and debit cards is the risk involved. Because they are attached to a bank account, loosing a debit card is very risky. A person does not need a pin number to use a debit card and therefore can easily drain a persons bank account, causing extreme problems.
With a credit card the only problem is proving that someone else used the card. With a debit card the persons has to figure out how to get their money back and if any checks bounced they are responsible for those as well. The legal liability is much greater with a debit card than with a credit card. Go to : http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/ and get a best credit card according your credit.
Creeps! I can’t link my ATM DEBIT CARD to my PayPal account. It keeps on giving me an error message that “We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address.” I entered all the correct information and it still won’t let me go through. I already have my online banking but I don’t know where to enter it. I have my Bank account confirmed but its just the verification part I’m having a VERY VERY HARD TIME with.
@ Gail same thing happened to me. Go to your bank, ask for a bank Statement to see if PayPal charged you that 1.95$ verification fee. Beside the amount is the 4-digit verification code that you need to enter to verify your bank account before transferring any money or buying online. That’s what I was told. I’m still figuring out myself.
@ Gail then go through the same process that you did, try to enter the 4-digit code from paypal in the “security code” box this time instead of the 3-digit card security code.Try it if it works.
Hi there! I have a problem adding my BDO debit card. It always says ‘We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address.’ I already checked it a million times and I even went to BDO to have a printed copy of my data where my address was stated. But still, I received the same warning from Paypal. Please advise me what to do. Thanks!
Reply from BDO:
“We wish to inform you that BDO does not have an existing arrangement with
PayPal.
In relation to this, please be advised that you cannot use your BDO Debit
ATM Card to purchase or transact online. MasterCard(MC) / VISA does not
allow internet transactions for MasterCard Electronic (MCE) / VISA cards.
BDO Debit card can be used for payment purchase in all merchants with
Mastercard logo, BDO’s Point-of-Sale terminal and BPI’s Express Payment
System terminal or a withdrawal/balance inquiry transaction at any
terminals with Expressnet, Megalink, Bancnet or Maestro Cirrus logo.
Thank you and good day.”
why BDO cant link and confirm my debit or credit card?
I entered all the information correctly and I Recieved a message We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address.
i have also activated BDO internet banking..kailangan ma confirm muna ang BDO mastercard ko before pincode na sinasabi? anybody advise naman dyan..
How about if i want to add credits to my paypal account via BDO?
I linked my BDO account with my Paypal account.
It worked.
I went to get verified. It didn’t work.
Tried many times, failed many times.
———————————————–
I enrolled myself on BDO’s Internet Banking last night & submitted the printed enrollment form today.
Once I get an email from BDO about the approval/confirmation of my enrollment,
I’ll try to get verified on Paypal again.
I hope by then, my verification would pull through.
Your BDO debit account got verified, right?
Mine will probably will too. Hopefully ^_^
