bobong Bob Ong Quotes: Witty Lines of Life

So yeah, more and more are searching for these so called quotes of Bob Ong, but who is he? Is he some kind of a contemporary philosopher or somewhere in that line? Well it appears that Bob Ong is just a psuedo name or in simpler terms an alias. Wikipedia offers several interesting theories on Bob Ong’s identity but let’s save that for another time. We are here to talk about Bob Ong’s Quotes and how I feel about them.

His quotes are primarily in Tagalog (Filipino) and talks about the stuff that we usually overlook in life. But these line actually pack a hefty punch which could leave one to say Am***a!Tama nga! (trans. %@^%&^#, he’s right!). I first encounter Bob Ong over at the sms, when some of my friends were sending me these string of quotes which appears to be nonsense until the wit actually hits you. The funny thing is that his quotes are not that profound and in fact  they are so simple and direct. Most of his quotes center around relationships, experiences and pretty much everything there is in the Filipino Culture. Her are some of the more popular Bob Ong Quotes with there corresponding English Translations:

  • “Kung hindi mo mahal ang isang tao, wag ka nang magpakita ng motibo para mahalin ka nya.”(If you do not love a person, do not show any motive that might give him/her the wrong idea of loving you back)
  • “Huwag mong bitawan ang bagay na hindi mo kayang makitang hawak ng iba.” (Do not let go of the thing that you can’t stand to see in the possession of others)
  • “Mas mabuting mabigo sa paggawa ng isang bagay kesa magtagumpay sa paggawa ng wala.”(Its better to fail at doing something rather than succeeding in doing nothing.)
  • “Hindi lahat ng kaya mong intindihin ay katotohan, at hindi lahat ng hindi mo kayang intindihin ay kasinungalingan.” (Not all the things that you can comprehend is the truth, and not all things that you can’t comprehend are lies).
  • “Kung dalawa ang mahal mo, piliin mo yung pangalawa. Kasi hindi ka naman magmamahal ng iba kung mahal mo talaga yung una. “(If you are loving two persons, choose the second one. because you won’t look for the second one if you already love the first).

Well there you have it, I have tried my best to make my translation sensible and I think blood is already dripping from my nostrils after that ordeal! As you can see, most of his quotes are so logical that it can really slap you to reality. Expect to see more Bob Ong Quotes in the future.
